Trick or Treat by Richie Tankersley Cusick (1989)

4 out of 5 stars

This was such a nostalgic treat! I read this in October and it really got me in the Halloween mood (as if I really need any help). I remember enjoying this book as a kid in the early 90s but I didn't really expect it to live up to my memory, so I was pleasantly surprised to thoroughly enjoy this one as an adult. Nostalgia definitely played a part but I also think Cusick's writing is excellent. Sure, it's a bit cheesy and melodramatic at times and the romance is a little cringey but it also had a lot of suspense and it kept me guessing throughout. The reveal at the end was actually quite dark and disturbing! Also, this cover art is probably my favourite of all the Point Horror books. I love everything about it!
